Advanced Open Water!! - July 17th-18th and August 21st-22nd
Adventure and Advanced Classes are starting this month. Have you wanted to go deeper to see a wreck or to the bottom of the reef but you needed more training before you could? Well, July 17th and 18th will be your chance! We are conducting an Advanced Open Water Class, in which you will learn about deep diving, underwater navigation, diving at night and more. The cost is only $149 and there is limited space, so sign up soon to secure your spot. If you can’t stay the whole weekend feel free to come Saturday or Sunday and get the extra training you need to walk away with your Adventure Diver Cert. Rescue Diver Course - June 24th-25th and August 28th-29th
The Rescue Course is, some say, the most rewarding step in your diving adventure. In this course you will learn to consider the safety and well-being of yourself & other divers. This is why Rescue Diver is a prerequisite for all PADI leadership-level training. Rescue Diver training expands the basic problem prevention and accident management skills you learned in the Open Water Course. Upon completing the course you will be ready to manage more complex dive emergencies and to apply direct intervention techniques to assist others in an emergency. The course is demanding, though realistic in its conduct, content and approach. Although the nature and context in which rescue training may be used is serious, the course will be an enjoyable challenge that will build your confidence as a diver. For more info. Beach Party and Fish Fry - August 7th / Port Orford
The annual Beach Party and Fish Fry is planned for August 7th. We are staying at the Humbug Mountain Day Use Area. We have reserved it for the night of the 6th and 7th. This year there is a $12 per person fee for the two night’s stay. We will be diving Saturday morning and the party will be back at the camp area that evening. If you would like to come and dive, let us know soon. As always, non-divers are welcome, so bring the whole family. For more information see us at the shop.

If you like lobster and love to dive then in October we are going out to dive around the Channel Islands on the Truth Aquatics. Last year’s trip was a blast and this one will be even better. If you have not looked at the pictures yet see the photo gallery. We are departing 4 am Thursday morning, October 14th and diving around the Channel Islands for three days returning on Saturday at 5 pm. The cost is going to be $545 per person. We stay right on the boat, and air fills, tanks and all the deliciously prepared food you can eat is included. Nitrox Specialty Class - April 21st
Extend your bottom time and reduce your risk of DCS by using Nitrox. On April 21st we are conducting a Nitrox Class. This is a one night specialty class and counts toward your Master Scuba Diver Certification. The cost is only $89, so come in to the shop and sign up soon and get your book. Digital Underwater Photographer Class - May 14th and 15th
How many times have you been talking with people & the subject has turned to scuba diving? Like most of us, we light up with excitement telling our magnificent stories, to find that we are short on words that can explain what we have seen. We all know a photo is worth a thousand words, & the Digital Underwater Photographer course will help back your stories with documented proof! We will be offering the full Digital Underwater Photographer course on Friday, May 14th (lecture) & 15th (river). You will learn the equipment, proper maintenance, different techniques, & more on "Take only photos, leave only bubbles." This course is available for $125;space is limited. Gear Swap!! - June 5th
The annual Gear Swap is Saturday June 5th from 9am to 3pm. We will be having some great used gear on sale for a good price. New gear will also be discounted 10% to 50% off for this one day only sale. Gear Swap - June 6th / THIS WEEKEND
The annual Gear Swap is THIS WEEKEND Saturday, June 6th, from 9am to 3pm. We will be having some great used gear on sale for a good price. New gear will also be discounted 10% to 50% off for this one day only sale. There will be a raffle for a NEW MARES regulator. The first 25 people though the door will receive 2 tickets and for every $100 purchase you will receive 10 tickets. At the end of the day we will pull a ticket and that person will go home with a brand new Mares regulator. So make sure you’re there early for the great deals and the raffle. New to Team Coral Sea - Congratulations!!!
We would like to congratulate Tim Holloway on completing the Instructor Course. Tim has been diving with us for several years; he has helped many of you with different courses. He will be helping out in our Grants Pass location with courses and in the shop. This will make the class schedule more accommodating and allow a wider range of courses. So, we would like to welcome Tim to team Coral Sea, and congratulations!

Loss of a Friend
We have recently lost a close friend of mine and Coral Sea Scuba. Pete Haugen passed away a few weeks ago due to a heart attack. Those of you that knew him realize the loss of such an amazing individual has affected us all here at Coral Sea. For those of you that never met him, I am sure you have heard or will hear some of the great stories of our fellow diver Pete Haugen. Lost, but always with our bubbles and always in our memories. Thanks for the memories Pete.

Hey Gang,
We would like to congratulate Rudy Tanner on completing the Instructor Course. Rudy has been diving with us for three years; he has helped many of you with different courses and on trips. Now he is taking over the Yreka end of things for us and will be helping out in our Grants Pass location as well. This will make the class schedule more accommodating. The Squawfish Derby will be ending on the 1st of November. The biggest fish is still only 19 in. There are bigger ones to be found so get out there and help clean them out of the rivers. The $100 gift certificates are still up for grabs: one for the biggest fish and one for the most over all pounds at the end of the derby.
The Underwater Pumpkin Carving Contest is going to be held on October 18th. Bring your pumpkin (pre-cleaned) and your plan for a winning jack o’ lantern. The cutting will be conducted underwater at dusk, with the option of staying in the water for a spooky night dive. The location is The Smith River at Charlie Dr. Let us know if you plan on attending. Stop by the shop for details.

The Diver’s Picnic location is going to be moved to the Smith River due to the dropping visibility at the Illinois. The Diver’s Picnic and Play Day will be on September 13th at the Smith River on Charlie Drive. Bring your picnic lunch, scuba stuff, non-diver friends, and we will bring our scuba toys. (Under Water Scooter and Full Face Masks and more). On Sunday we will be diving in Brookings (weather permitting) if you would like to join us there, too. If you would like to come, stop by the shop for details.

You can help reduce their population and have a chance to win a $100 Gift Certificate to the shop by getting some of the squaw fish out of our rivers. Now is the time to practice your spear fishing aim and clean up the rivers at the same time. We are having a contest for the biggest fish and the most over all pounds at the end of the contest. On the 15th of July we are starting the Squawfish Derby. Our rivers are overloaded with this fish, so to help clean up the river we are giving away prizes for the biggest and most overall poundage. Entering is FREE; you just have to like to DIVE. See the shop for details.

We have two classes coming up this week. On Thursday June 5th is the Enriched Air Nitrox class. There are still a few spots left so come in to get your books soon if you would like to join us for the specialty and start the Master Scuba Diver challenge. This weekend is an Advanced Open Water Class. This is a great class for those of you that would like to continue your scuba education after your Open Water Class. This class is modular so if you are only able to make it for one of the days that is fine. You may pick up the parts that you missed at the next class, which will be conducted in a few weeks. The first annual Gear Swap Meet is fast approaching. This will be the perfect opportunity to sell your wet suit that has shrunk, or some fins that your kid has grown out of, or pick up some great gear at a great price. Come by on June 21st between 9am and 3pm. There will be one-day in-shop specials from 10% to 50% off, too. Even if you’re not in the market for gear stop by and get a soda and a hot dog on us. If you ever wanted to dive in those beautiful mountain lakes and couldn’t because you did not have your Altitude Specialty, on June 22nd you can get your Altitude Specialty. This class is only $99 and only requires two dives and is easily completed in one day. As with most of the specialties this one counts toward your Master Scuba Diver certification. The annual Beach Party and Fish Fry is planned for August 2nd. We are staying at the Humbug Mountain Day Use Area. We have reserved it for the night of the 1st and 2nd. So this year there is a $10 per person fee for the two night’s stay. We will be diving Saturday morning and the party will be back at the camp area that evening. If you would like to come and dive, let us know soon. As always, non-divers are welcome, so bring the whole family. For more information see us at the shop.
If you like lobster and love to dive then in October we are going out to dive around the Channel Islands on the Sundiver. Last year trip was a blast and this one will be even better. If you have not looked at the pictures yet see the Photo Gallery. We are boarding the boat Saturday night October 4th and diving around the Channel Islands for three days returning on Tuesday afternoon. The cost is going to be $480 per person. We stay right on the boat, and air fills, tanks and all the food you can eat is included. If you are thinking of going please contact us and get your name on the list to secure your spot. On June 5th we are going to have a Nitrox Class. This is a one night specialty class and counts toward your Master Scuba Diver certification.
