SSI Night & Limited Visibility Specialty

Diving after dark or in low-visibility water reveals a completely different underwater world. Familiar sites transform as nocturnal marine life emerges, lights and shadows shift, and the atmosphere becomes calm and mysterious. The SSI Night & Limited Visibility Specialty at Coral Sea Scuba teaches you how to explore safely and confidently when natural light is low.

In this course, you will learn how to plan night and limited visibility dives, use dive lights effectively, communicate with your buddy, and manage entries, exits, and navigation when you cannot see as far as usual. You’ll practice proper light signals, buddy procedures, and techniques to stay oriented and relaxed throughout the dive.

With the right training, night and limited visibility diving becomes one of the most rewarding ways to experience the underwater world. Build your confidence, see new marine life, and expand when and where you can dive with the SSI Night & Limited Visibility Specialty.

Night and limited visibility dives let you see marine life and behaviors that you simply don’t see during the day. This course teaches you how to handle lights, communication, and navigation so you can enjoy these dives safely and confidently.

Do I need to be an advanced diver first?

What skills will I learn in this course?
You will learn how to plan night and limited visibility dives, choose and use dive lights, communicate with your buddy, manage entries and exits in the dark, stay oriented using natural references and a compass, and handle common issues such as disorientation or light failure.

Is night diving scary or difficult?
It’s normal to feel a bit nervous before your first night dive, but proper training makes a big difference. We start in familiar environments, use clear procedures, and keep group sizes manageable so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
