A: Most students complete the SSI Open Water course in about 2–3 weeks, depending on scheduling for pool sessions and open-water checkout dives.
Q: Do I need my own scuba gear for class?
A: No. Coral Sea Scuba offers rental gear for all SSI classes, including wetsuits, BCDs, regulators, and tanks. You’re welcome to use your own gear if you have it.

A: Yes. SSI certifications are accepted at dive centers around the world, so you can dive locally in Oregon and on your future dive trips.
Q: Where do the training dives take place?
A: Pool training is done locally, and open-water checkout dives are held at nearby Oregon dive sites. Specific locations and dates are arranged with each class.
Q: Do I need to be an expert swimmer to start?
