SSI Equipment Techniques
Your total diving system is your underwater life-support – you should know it as well as your favorite dive buddy. The SSI Equipment Techniques Specialty shows you how to choose, fit, and care for your own gear so you can dive more comfortably and confidently.
During this course you’ll learn how different types of BCDs, regulators, computers, exposure suits and accessories work together, and how to match equipment to the kind of diving you want to do. We also cover travel tips, packing strategies, and what to look for when upgrading or adding new gear.
You’ll practice basic maintenance and simple field repairs, learn what should be handled only by a technician, and discover how good care can extend the life of your equipment and improve safety on every dive.

Yes. We’ll discuss how to match equipment to your body, dive conditions, and future goals—whether you’re traveling to warm water, diving locally, or planning specialties like Dry Suit or Nitrox.
