Do I need to own an underwater camera?
It’s best if you bring your own camera and housing so you can learn on the system you’ll actually use. However, talk with Coral Sea Scuba if you need recommendations before you buy.

What kinds of cameras work for this course?
Action cameras, compact digitals, and mirrorless or DSLR systems can all work as long as they are in a proper underwater housing and rated for the depth you plan to dive.

What will I learn?
You’ll learn how to set up and care for your camera system, choose basic settings, control exposure and focus underwater, improve color and sharpness, and compose better photos and video clips.

Is this course only for photographers?
No. This course is for any diver who wants better images from their dives, whether you’re shooting casual vacation clips or building a more serious photo portfolio.

Where is the training done?
The Digital Underwater Photography Specialty can be taught in the pool or confined water, and often includes open water dives so you can practice in real conditions.

Does this course count toward advanced ratings?
Yes. The SSI Digital Underwater Photography Specialty counts toward recognition levels such as Specialty Diver, Advanced Open Diver, and Master Diver.
