The SSI River Diving course is designed to provide students with the ability to dive in a river with a current. It covers the necessary safety procedures to evaluate the flow and determine if conditions are safe for diving.

Who can take the River Diving course?
This course is designed for certified divers who want to safely explore rivers and current-driven environments.
What will I learn during River Diving training?
You will learn how to assess current strength, evaluate river conditions, plan safe entries and exits, communicate with your buddy, and manage river-specific hazards.
Do I need previous current diving experience?
No previous current diving experience is required, but you should be comfortable in the water and hold an Open Water Diver certification or equivalent.
What equipment is used for river diving?
In addition to your standard scuba equipment, you may use surface marker buoys, cutting devices, exposure protection appropriate for local conditions, and other gear recommended by your instructor.
Is river diving safe?
